Missing detail?

The lede is woefully inadequate without a mention of Toronto's ascendancy at the expense of Montreal. If not for the Québec nationalism, Toronto would still be the Second City. Less precipitation than rainfall?

I was looking at the weatherbox for the climate of Toronto here when I saw that it said that Toronto had less precipitation than rainfall in August and September (August had 71.9 mm of precip but 81.1 mm of rainfall, for example). This seems illogical because rainfall contributes to precipitation totals, and thus is a part of it. Can someone check this/check the resource? Not done "Lakes Simcoe and Couchiching" is grammatically correct as it refers to both Lake Simcoe and Lake Couchiching. By the way, the proper term for the "Quick Facts" section is the Infobox. Bordering a subtropical climate?

It looks like on February 8th at 00:48 user NameStuffs made a change saying that the climate of Toronto borders a humid subtropical climate (Cfa). Is this accurate? This seems to come on the heels of two edits made on January 31st by user 2607:fea8:5298:5210:8a7e:23c6:fcb4:c33d, who edited both the pages for Amherstburg (Ontario) and Windsor (Ontario) to also say that the climates there border a humid subtropical climate (albeit, to be fair, for Amherstburg its corresponding French-language article (https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amherstburg) has mentioned it being subtropical for a while now, while its English-language article traditionally just had the chart but with no brief description at the top). All of this does seem a bit fishy to me, so I want to double-check with others to make sure this is accurate. Speyeker (talk) 19:52, 13 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I explained my decision to include the information about the subtropical climate as when using the weatherbox data, the lowest mean temperature is -3.5°C, which when using the -3°C isotherm, makes Toronto, in my opinion, bordering a subtropical climate, as it's only 0.5°C away. I understand that that's just my opinion, and that the -3°C isotherm isn't the isotherm used commonly on Wikipedia.

However, I have seen other pages (Sofia, Pittsburgh, Windsor, and Yarmouth), reference the -3°C isotherm, and those same climates also are around 1°C away from the 0°C isotherm. Now that I think about it, it's kind of a stretch to say this, as Toronto doesn't use the -3°C isotherm to be subtropical, but I don't understand how it constitutes original research.

P.S: I'm not 2607:fea8:5298:5210:8a7e:23c6:fcb4:c33d. However, I considered Windsor's page when adding this for Toronto. NameStuffs (talk) 05:02, 14 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
